Anybody know the glide ratio of an Express 2000 w/550 engine and prop stopped?
Or with zero thrust?
Thanks!
Ben

The Cirrus SR22 with the same engine and a 3400 lb gross weight has a 9.6 to 1 (G2 wing) glide ratio. I would think a Series 2000 would be pretty similar, but not quite as good as the SR22. The Cirrus has a little bit higher aspect ratio than the Series 2000 (I believe).
This is with a windmilling engine. Not really sure what the glide ratio would be with a stopped prop.

When I do a simulated power off landing in my Express S-90 with the big tail and an IO550 with 3-blade Muehlbauer prop, I pull the throttle to idle and also pull the prop to high pitch to get the best glide with 86 kts (also my Vy) This results to a rate of descent of approx. 900 ft/min, which is close to 1:10 ratio. With high RPM (prop full forward) the rate is 1500 Ft/m or more!
