Dear Builders,

here a few pics about my seat rails adapted from new rails out of a isa-racing catalog www.isa-racing.de for about 30 € a pair.

Weld a U shaped bracket with 5/16 hole to fwd lower end of rail, cut circa 2 cm of aft end, but leave a 12mm tongue to bend down into the sandwich support, where the slot si filled with millfibre or flox. This tongue transferes some load forward and sidewise to aft structure. Rivet 2 angle alu pieces and drill 5/16 hole. This bracket is bolted to fwd shear web in front of end of seat support. This makes the fwd hinge. Straiten the tube and weld the two short pieces to the longer piece across, so as the release linkage is operable (pull up) with one hand right below the cutout for the control stick. The upper rail is bolted to the seat with 2 1/4 " bolts (add some 4mm hardpoints 1" x 1" to distribute load)
Fabricate some retain mecanisme for the aft end of rail, in my solution the 2 latches are made of a 10X10 mm alu with a spring in the drilled back, a cutout for a steel finger from above to move fore and aft, clamped to a 8mm steelrod. The housing is out of 2 angle alu with nylon spacers forward and aft. As the access to the latches is rather difficult with the seats mounted, so the 2 latches are connected by the steel rod, bent 90 degrees at the outboard end and lengthened with alu tube. So the lachtes can be opened with a single lever. This allows to easily unlatch the seats for better entry into aft seats and also for good access to space below seats, where my Navaid wing leveller, Whelen flasher box and Micro Vision DPU are. Also are the seats easily removable.

This is a good job when waiting for the new engines to come!
