Stan: I have a set of fiberglass gear that don't use the plates like Auriga. Year 2000 vintage from EAC that have about 60 hours. You are welcome to them for the cost of shipping. I too swapped the fiberglass for an Aluminum gear and would highly recommend the Al gear. Gary Markwardt |

Stan, Looks like you can get a few legs shipped to you :P Mine should be arriving on Monday at your place. Maybe you could make a centipede Express? -Eric |

I've seen centipedes before. They're really fast. Jim Butler |

Can anyone with the new aluminum gear give me the distance between the belly of the plane and the ground just underneath the wing spar? Thank you, Paul Mikaelsen |

Hi gang, who of you know the weight of an Al gear leg. My intrest in the glass leg is saving weight. I'll be flying with the little engine and I must go as light as possible. Eric H. was nice enough to ship a wheeler set of legs out( Thanks Eric)but I can see why we had problems with them. Gary M.and Wayne have kindly offered a modern set from (EAC)The only way to improve on that offer would be to find a raw un mounted set. Thanks to all that have helped. Stan |

Stan - I think Eric sent you the Auriga legs (see my picture above). What do think is wrong with them? You may not have the steel plates, bolts, Hysol, and the bonding instructions for the upper bend (see picture above again). If you aren't going to use them, let me know. Other users of these legs have only good reports so far... I think Wayne's are a "raw unmnounted" set of EAC legs since he used his custom designed Alum. ones from the start... |

FWIW on my plane, the center of the fuse under the spar box to the floor is 26.5" as it sits out there in the cold. |

Hans Schmid listed the specs for the EAC aluminum gear in his 7/17/02 posting. Weight was listed as 70.77 Lbs. One important consideration with the Al gear is prop clearance. Mine improved 3" (from about 7" to 10") with the new gear using the Hartzell 3 blade prop. |

I just finished adjusting the toe-in on my aluminum gear. I reduced the toe-in by 1.4 deg on each side. Having shims fabricated ended up being cheaper than the stock shims I could find and having extras made was only a little more. If anyone needs 1.4 deg shims for a 6.00x6 axle, let me know. I have three pairs. |

Mark: How did you determine that a 1.4 deg shim was the proper correction? Did you use the EAC Al gear? I've been thinking my gear needs some tweaking for camber, but have been unsure how to decide how much I need. I may want those shims.
