Yup, I have the Skytech starter too, and it makes a big difference. Even with the described hot start technique, there are times where it takes a bunch of trial and error long cranks, depending on time and temp since last run, and the Skytech stands up to them.

I have been looking through the "Spruce" catalogue for a good vacuum pump for our new IO550-N and I think I am more confused than ever. Is there a recommended vac pump for our donk? As usual, any help would be most appreciated.

Regards.

Kevin:
I used the RAPCO Vacuum system kit on pg. 326 which includes the pump. regulator, filters ,tubing, hoses, etc. Seems to be working fine after 60 tach hr. You must be sure to order the correct pump rotation which is CW (clockwise) for the IO-550-N1B engine as I recall. I'd need to check to be sure or perhaps the factory or another builder can verify. Kevin:
Rotation is indeed clockwise on IO-550-N1B. So, if you go with the Rapco Kit from ACS, order P/N RA-VAC-K2 shown on pg. 326. Gary

Fellow builders:

I just used for the first time the "Keyword Search" feature of this forum page.

If you need information on "any" subject, ie., Instrument Panels, or lighting, or landing gear, everything that has been added to the forum page, including the archived items, will show up.

Try it. You will like it. You guys have a lot of information at your fingertips (Hmmmm!)

Cheers, Jerry

I am getting into phoenix in the morning & flying back friday evening. I understand the factory reps are going to be there.

If you don't have the latest copy of Custom Planes, go get one. Reinhard Metz has a nice article in it with pictures of his Express. Good work Reinhard!
