Hi Stan;
My DPU is mounted on a rack attached to the removable face plate on the instrument panel where my VM1000 display is located. I simply remove the mounting screws and pull the unit aft to expose the DPU where I can remove it or check/or change wiring as needed. I have had to access the DPU several times in the past 8 years and I am certainly glad I took the time to make it easily accessable. One of our esteemed (wow!) builders, (Bill, I won't mention any names in case you are reading this, hmmmm!) has the DPU attached to the nose gear support behind the instrument panel. A bit difficult to get to I think.

I will post a picture later showing this installation and I could send more pictures directly to anyone interested in my panel arrangement.

I was just thinking this might be a great way to mount the Blue Mountain Avionics EFIS/One I will be installing.

Thanks for ratting me out! You are right to recommend mounting for easiest access. Ours is VERY difficult to maintain. So far have only had one loose connection which we found without too much trouble - if you don't mind working upside down and you can focus close up.

Everyone using the VM100. If you have a loose connection the the CHT probe it will go to default of 500 degrees. After heart rate slows down landing and calling the company I found out that is the default . I didn't see this in any instructions but you can turn off power and that indicator will go blank. Maybe this will keep you from landing at other than your destination

One other thing to think about. If you have the annunciator panel for the VM-1000, you might want to send it to Vision MicroSystems to be "hardened" against static electricity. I was flying in some precip and it went crazy, and then the entire system went blank. Turns out I was experiencing P-Static. I talked to Vision MicroSystems about it and they said the problem was the annunciator panel, and that they had a no cost mod to "harden" it against P-Static. I sent the annunciator to them, they did the mod, and I've had no problem since.

I have the Vision Micro System in my CT 456TS. Occasionally I had intermittent display on one of the EGT probes (cylinder 2) and finally the display quit. Now I have a similar problem with the fuel flow indication. The readings had been steady for two years and now it shows on startup but the display disappears while I taxi to the runway. Must be connections somewhere that are loose. Before I just keep poking around, are there any suggestions on where to start?

Hi Terry;
I had to change my fuel flow unit ($350 I think) as mine did the same thing. It was a pain when it didn't work (sometimes it did) as it throws the processor fuel quantity of by not subtracting fuel. I also had to change EGT and CHT probes as needed from time to time (in 8 years and nearly 400 hours).

Expect to replace the fuel flow servo unit. Good luck.
