Has anyone found a towbar that works with the Express? I rolled my Express CT out of the hanger for the first time recently, had to kick the nose gear around a good bit to steer it back in. Would like to find an easier way to steer it. Steve Bussey |

I made my own out of 1" conduit. I'll post a picture. It has two pins, made out of NS bolts, machined for a smaller diameter for 1/2" of their front, that engage holes in the nose wheel fork, through holes in the pant. The fork on the towbar is hinged at the point the T portion of the bar attaches, allowing the engagement of the pins. The hinged section is tensioned with a spring. As I said, I'll post a picture (Have to take it first!) |

See part #14 towbar. $39 http://www.chiefaircraft.com/cgi-bin/hazel.cgi?action=serve&item=/Aircraft/Acces sories/Towbars.html I put round plugs on the fork held by 1/4" SAE stainless button head screws. The plugs are machined to fit the towbar--approx 3/4". The picture shows the matching holes in the wheel pant.

I have the same towbar shown in Jerry's posting. 5/8" dia plugs were welded on the fork end to fit into the tow bar holes on the EAC nose wheel fork. It works great. Nice thing about it is that the handle comes off for easy storage in the baggage compartment by pulling the quick release pin. |
