Computer shapes of the EXPRESS: When trying to decide about the layout of the paint scheme, the stylist asks about computer data to make the stencils and layout. Is there anybody that has the beautiful EXPRESS lines as a file in some format? Thanks for any hints and help! Werner Maag |

Windows and Wing Root Fairings:
Anyone with the original single-door upper fueslage that has not installed the windows yet should give a call prior to doing so. We've come up with a pretty slick way to put them in from the outside (ala Series 2000) that makes for a very flush window installation. Hard to explain in writing.
Also, if anyone needs lower wing fairings for the original wing (wing-to-fuselage intersection), we've made up molds for a one-peice fairing, and can supply them.They are similar to the upper fairings, but were not supplied with the kits. Saves beaucoup time trying to do this any other way.

I was watching 'FROM THE GROUND UP' (building an RV-8) on Discovery Wings the other night. EAA’s Joe Schumacher stated that using of Vinyl Ester or Polyester resins to bond Plexiglas would embrittle Plexiglas.
Has anybody experienced problems bonding Plexiglas with Vinyl Ester. Any suggestions?

They've been doing it for years on the Glasair line. I've never heard of the plexi departing or breaking without some outside help, only slight crazing when someone uses the wrong liquid to clean it or cracking when drilling. |

I suppose Hysol might be a good alternative. That seems to be the adhesive of choice for the Lancair crowd.
Express AC bonded in all my side windows with vinyl ester "milled fiber" or as my friend the Glasair builder calls it "goopy poo".
I have yet to install the front windshield.

I have an old CT model. Just about ready to put windows in. Does anyone know if the new windows are the same as the older? Or where could I find the older ones? LP Aero said they have windows, but they do not know which versions it fits.

I believe the rear windows are the same, but the front side windows are different, due to the two doors on the Series 2000 model. I'll ask at our hangar about the front window - it looks the same, but I'm not sure.
Also, there is a process of putting the windows into the older CT version, that allows you to put them in from the outside, rather than inside, and keep them flush with the outside. Let me know if you're interested and we can talk off-forum. My contact info is in a posting above.

The rear windows are not the same. I believe all iterations after the CT are the same. To the best of my knowledge the windshields are all the same except some variation in thickness.

I have an Aureiga project but have not purchased windows. I had always assumed that the series 2000 windows were the same but with this discussion, I now have some concern. Does anyone know if the series 2000 windows fit the Aureiga. They are very similar but improvements along the way have created some differences in other areas. Since getting them from the factory is probably impossible at the present time, does anyone know who the supplier was for windows? |

How much paint does it take to cover an express? I know there is a lot of variation by technique and type of paint. I'm going to base coat/clear coat and am looking for ballpark estimates - to make sure I have enough once I get started without going totally overboard. |
