Hi Steve and Ali
I got you answers, and are very helpful.
My CG now is exactly the same 80.9
My question was if the firewall must be perpendicular to floor? because when is over wheels there is a deviation to back and I got the weitgh in this position.

Jorge'
The firewall was supposed to be perpendicular to the floor. The flat portion of the floor is the water line also.

It´s a nice picture from your wife and you, you are a young man!
I have another question. The landing gear and tail were change for new version.
The maximun weight for original is 2895 lbs. I have a Lycoming IO 360. Empty weight 1973 lbs.
The new tail adds weight, but also increase lift or sustentation? because there is more surfaces (with same power), so in theory, I loose cargo because is more heavy, but could increase maximun weight. It has any sense?
This is because in actual condition, I can´t use full fuel and two pax.

From the Express factory. Normaly drill a # 40 hole every 6'along the water line 40, this will be a refrence you will never lose. The bottom of the fuselage from the carrythrough section forward is the same as water line 40. Do not use the bottom of the canopy window frame, because there is as much as 4 degrees diffrence ,plus or minus 1 tenth of a degree. Here at the factory we have 3 fuselages under construction ,and have found that diffrence on each one, useing a smart level.

Hello
again I would like to questions if with with the tail change (T model unstead of cruciform) I get more maximun weight, because the new one has more surface, also is heavier, so in theory, I could sume to original 2895 lbs. something more, near to 3200.
Could be calculate? I´m sure but I dodn´t know how.

Jorge

I believe that the gross weight has more to do with what type of landing gear you have. I have the cruciform tail and the steel landing gear. My gross weight is 3200 lbs.

My opinion - unless you have a bad installation leave the tail alone. Don't believe the bad press, the cruciform tail is an excellent tail.

Jorge,

If my memory serves correct, back in the EAC days the gross weight wasn't determined as much by the tail size as it was more a factor of the engine installation. With less than 250hp, the recommendation was to limit the gross weight to 2,895 lbs. Moving up to the IO-540's & IO-550's provided more power to handle the 3,200+ lb higher gross weights.

As Steve mentioned, you also want to make sure your landing gear can also handle the added weights if you do increase it. But with your IO-360 installed, the recommended gross weight was 2,895 lbs regardless of the gear.

Hope that helps.

Chris

Hi Steve
I recently bougth the plane and the tail was change same years ago. Also the landing gear was change.
The plane was made by J. Warner and was the Oskosh winner in 92. It has a Lycoming IO 360. The changes were did around 2003, but in all the w&b, the maximun weight wasn´t change (2865) as the original.
So I beleive thet is an error, because now I have a bigger surface. The original weight was 1816 lbs. and now is 1973, so in theory, I have less useful load.
I like to know if somebody that change tail and landing gear, also change the maximun weight.
For your answer I asume that I could consider 3200 also?, with same motor? what´s your motor?
Thanks.

Jorge,

I have the IO 540 engine. I think Chris is right that the higher gross weight did come with the larger engines.
